The Airwave Police Professional Awards have been established to recognise and reward the commitment of innovators and leaders to their organisations and business areas and to improving police efficiency and performance.
 

The Airwave Police Professional Awards are organised by Clarity Publishing in association with the following organisations:

National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA)

is the new agency dedicated to supporting policing improvement in England and Wales in order to provide a better service to the public. The NPIA also works closely with policing bodies in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Formed by the coming together of a number of policing agencies, including the Police Information Technology Organisation (PITO), Centrex (Central Training Agency) and elements of the Association of Chief Police Officers and the Home Office, the NPIA is responsible for major policing programmes including neighbourhood policing, facilitating national improvements in technology and data sharing, and workforce modernisation, among other areas.

The Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO)

is an independent, professionally led strategic body. In the public interest - and in equal and active partnership with Government and the Association of Police Authorities - ACPO leads and co-ordinates the direction and development of the police service in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. In times of national need ACPO, on behalf of all chief officers, co-ordinates the strategic policing response. ACPO’s 341 members are police officers of assistant chief constable rank (commanders in the Metropolitan Police and City of London Police) and above, and senior police staff managers, in the 44 forces in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and other forces such as British Transport Police and States of Jersey Police.

The Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland (ACPOS)

oversees and co-ordinates all aspects of direction and development across all eight Scottish police forces. ACPOS liaises with colleagues across the UK, with the Scottish Police College, Scottish Police Information Strategy, Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency and the Scottish Criminal Records Office on all strategic activity and service improvement.

The Association of Police Authorities (APA)

is the national voice of local police authorities and works to influence the policing agenda on behalf of police authorities and local communities. APA represents all local police authorities in England and Wales, as well as the Northern Ireland Policing Board and British Transport Police Authority. The Civil Nuclear Police Authority, Skills for Justice, and the Scottish Police Authorities Convenors’ Forum are associate members
